As you probably know by now, the idea behind C'reer is to make the career exploration process available to all students in this country, not just those who benefit from attending a wealthier high school with the best software and reasonable school counselor-to-student ratios.
The next step in that endeavor for us was to address the more than 500,000 foster children in this country who receive little to no guidance or help in figuring out their futures. That's why we launched our Indiegogo campaign to build a version of career that will aid the foster community specifically,
It's exciting for us to see that we're not alone in feeling we're on the right track. So much so that we're excited to announce our partnership with Fostering Success Michigan.
The state of Michigan is home to many colleges and universities with scholars programs dedicated to serving the needs of students transitioning out of the foster care system and into post secondary education.
The goal of Fostering Success Michigan is to increase access and success in postsecondary education and post-college careers among Michigan's students with experience in foster care through the building of a holistic network that insulates (i.e., strengthens protective factors and reduces risks) the education to career “pipeline” for students from foster care.
In hoping to help Fostering Success Michigan with its goal we've set up a contribution level within our Indiegogo campaign at $2,500 wherein we will donate $500 to Fostering Success Michigan and the campuses in its consortium.
